Winona Laura Horowitz who is professionally known as Winona Ryder was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents named her for her hometown. Michel Horowitz is her father and Cynthia Palmer is her mother. Ryder's father is from an ethnically Jewish family Ryder thinks she's Jewish. She has two younger half-siblings, Jubal and Sunyata.
